Resume and references
Here's the thing about unemployment: oh my GOD ya'll, is it boring. Sure, being able to sleep in every day is nice, but after you wake up you have an entire day with nothing to do. Looking for work only takes up so much time (and living in as small of an area as I do, once you've applied for jobs you have to wait a few weeks for the next crop to pop up), as does the basic day-to-day things. And then you're left with time. Hours and hours of time. By yourself. And you know what? I am not that interesting of a person. These past four weeks I have spent an awful lot of time with myself and I have to say, I would like to see other people.
Then there is the money factor. Sure, I receive unemployment, but in the month it took to just receive my first lousy check I've gone through what sad amount of saving I had and there is not much left. Needless to say, there has been a lot of visits to the library lately. And naps. Lots of naps.
And though I desperately want to find a job - if only so checking my mailbox will stop being the most exciting moment of my day - I'm not quite sure what type of work to look for. I'm going back to school in the spring and will need to have a part time job then to cover expenses....so do I just find a part time job now? Or do I find a full time job knowing I'll have to leave in three months? Or should I find a couple part time jobs and work myself into the ground to save up some extra money? Ugh, this life thing, so confusing.
